- Initial Appt.
At your initial appointment your physiotherapist will asses your problem(s). You will be asked to provide a detailed history and to consent to a physical examination. Your physiotherapist will then be better able to identify effective treatments for you to choose from. Many treatments can provide short term relive of symptoms but careful assessment is necessary to treat the cause of your problems.
- Subsequent Appt.
You will receive treatment ranging from “hands on therapy”, electrotherapy, and education in self treatments including home exercises. Each treatment has to be assessed for its effect so key questions and examinations will be repeated. You may need to keep a diary of your symptoms & treatment responses between appointments.
- Pelvic Floor Assessment Appointment
At this appointment we will assess your pelvic floor problem(s) – Prolapse, Pain, Bladder and Bowel by asking you for a detailed history and for your consent to a pelvic examination including internal vaginal assent of your pelvic floor muscles. This is necessary to determine which rehabilitation strategies will best address your problem.
- Pelvic Floor Treatment Appointment
Your treatment plan can include manual therapy, electrotherapy and a personally tailored pelvic floor muscle home exercise program. Each treatment has to be assessed for its effect so key questions and examinations will be repeated. You may need to keep a diary of your symptoms & treatment responses between appointments. Typically women work with pelvic floor muscle training for 12 months and have between 3-6 physiotherapy appointments. Some therapies involve single patient use equipment that will incur an additional charge per item. Also available, in consultation with your doctor is the supply, fit and review of Vaginal Pessaries.
Water based therapy improves strength, flexibility, mobility and fitness. The warm water temperature and buoyancy allows you to work with less pain and more challenge. Participants work on individual exercise program’s that address a specific problem. Therefore you must attend an assessment appointment at our clinic before starting your hydrotherapy and have a review appointment every 4-6 weeks
- Pilates Class
Clinical Pilates can be part of your treatment program for any condition that benefits from increased core stability. Ideal for your well ing if you have chronic spinal pain or arthritis, if you are pregnant or have had a baby recently.
- Aquanatal Class
This class brings pregnant and postnatal women together to exercise for their fitness, strength, flexibility and postural comfort. Water based exercise in pregnancy greatly improves sleep and relaxation as well as your readiness for childbirth. The classes are also a social opportunity for sharing experiences in pregnancy, childbirth, and early parenting.
